Do you buy "just in case gifts"?
Just in case someone turns up? Or do you buy gifts with noone in mind to give it to, just because you like it? Over the years I have done this and sometimes have ended up with a stock of ungiven things. Some do come in handy but some sit there for years. Last year I wrapped several items up and put them under the charity trees at the shopping centre. At the moment I have a doll jewellery stand, a makeup bag, several pretty frames, cups and saucers, candle holders, Christmas bottle stoppers and probably more I've forgotten about. Most of which were bought at bargain prices over the years. Some of them are already wrapped.

- I buy just in case things you can give to anybody almost ie a candle frame stuff like that and i make extra goodies for post lady and ups guy whoever may come by then I buy more personal gifts for those you i may need somethign extra for and if you have extra ready to go stuff and dont know what to do with there are plenty of children and people who have nothing who would prob enjoy some of the things you have ?
- No
- Yes, I do. I would hate to need one and not have one so I always have a few items around. I would rather have a few extra presents then not enough. (((hugs)))
- I don't buy "just in case" things, but I have been known to re-gift. Great if the person's whose gift you re-gift and the receiver of the gift don't know each other. If I know someone else would appreciate the gift much more, it makes sense to give it to them, rather than let it sit around my house for a few years until I get rid of it.
- YES! What if someone unexpectedly comes by? And I've put my extras under the charity trees at malls/riteaids. :)
- I get things that I think are really special and then I find just the right person to give it to.These are just in case though.
- i usually do buy a few extra things for someone that might pop in christmas day that i have forgotten about or might be a new addition to our family. i make sure they are gifts that i can use or i can give as birthday presents later in the year. otherwise, i'd forget where i put them from year to year :)
- I definitely buy just-in-case gifts. I hate to not have something for someone who gets me a gift. I wrap them and put a blank tag on them, and I keep a pencil right next to them! (Not a pen, because the wet ink would be a giveaway that I just wrote it!) I usually get a nice bottle of wine, a martini shaker, a book of short stories, or some nice candles as my just-in-case gift.
- Last year I bought and wrapped a few boxes of assorted chocolates, and boy, was I glad I did. Even if it's obvious that it's a "just in case gift", it's better than having nothing to give to someone who unexpectedly give you something.
- my mom and I always put together several "extra" things but they're usually homemade candies or cookies packaged nicely. last year we found some really cute ceramic mini bread pans and we made peppermint bark, put it in them, wrapped them in celophane and ribbons and then when people stopped by, we gave them out and what was left, we gave to family as a little extra. something like that is cool because it's homemade and then the little pan can be reused.
