- try putting it on a little cushion (like they do at weddings) or get two rings. one ring should be flat on the surface and the other one lying diagonally half on the ring half on the surface
- try a third hand or mannequin hand A third hand has clips to hold the pieces.
- You could use a latex glove and fill it with plaster of paris and make a model of a hand. Then paint it and use it to display the rings.
- A nice way is to use a piece of dark ( midnight blue or black) piece of velvet. Spread over a box or table and pull up some velvet from the center so it forms a finger-like structure. Place your ing on it. Take picture. The velvet absorbs the radiated light from the metal and stone of the ring and does not reflect it back into the camera. This makes for nice pictures. The thicker the velvet, the easier the pulling up of the "finger" Good luck!
- You could always come up with different props like roses or chocolates, something romantic like that.
- For that kind of work I use that gummy stuff they sell at craft stores called "tack". It's used to hang posters on the wall without pins or tape. You can mold it into a small ball, and it will hold up a small object like a ring for a few minutes. Should work perfectly for what you are doing.
