Do you have amazing DIY organizing/decorating ideas?
If you do, you should help me! I am trying to reorganize my room, obviously. I have a small room and a lot of things. I am interested in some original DIY organizing/decorating ideas. All ideas are encouraged! But I would particularly like are ideas for: a) alternatives to picture frames b) jewelry organizers/holders

- Jewelry organizers: -- ice cube trays in the top drawer of the bureau for rings, ear rings, and small items. One item or pair per cube. These can stack if the drawer is deep enough. -- push pins in a cork board to hang necklaces. Arrange the pins to suit the necklaces you have, then tack the board to a larger bulletin board or to the inside of the closet door. If you have an amoire, inside the door on that would work, too. -- "Key holder" strips with hooks to hang necklaces and bracelets. Two or three attached in a group on the wall make the necklaces and bracelets into "art." -- for traveling jewel and make-up cases, I bought organizers from the hardware department, like one might put fishing lures or nails and screws and nuts into in a garage. The ones I got were a cheerful buttercup yellow, but I'm sure they come in other colors. The come with little dividers so you can make the spaces conform to what you have. I enlarged one place for a compact by snipping out the wall of the compartment with a pair of heavy shop scissors. These hold my favorite peices all the time, and I don't have to worry about them spilling like the ice-cube trays did. alternative to picture frames -- buy stretched box canvases at a craft or discount store. Either paint them a color to go with or contrast with the walls or cover them with a fabric that coordinates with the colors in the room, and mount photos and small prints directly on the surface. You might want to cover the edge of the photo or print with biased tape or trim available at the craft, discount, or fabric stores to make them look more finished, but if you are careful to use double-sided tape to stick the photo down all the way around, you might not need the trim. -- Buy mats without the frames. Paint or cover them to frame items. -- comb junk stores and yard sales for items like hand-held mirrors or compacts, and put the picture where the mirror belongs. -- serving trays, either from discount stores or second-hand stores, can be mounted on the wall with pictures in the bottom part, making unusual photo frames. - stretch a larger peice of fabric using "screen door trim" from a local hardware store, and attach the fabric directly to the wall for a giant frame, and mount several pictures as a collage directly on the fabric either with fabric glue or double stick tape. ANY photos you intend to mount with tape or glue should not be originals, but photocopies or prints. Your originals can be scanned in and printed out. That way if you have to put the tape on the back, you won't have to worry about damaging the one-of-a-kind priceless original, which can be scrapbooked or archived. I'm currently making a nitch in the bathroom for an enclosed trash can.
- Try putting up a shelf and setting the pictures upon it. As for jewelry organizers try to make small trees out of sticks. You place the stick in a small flower pot with sand or clay in it and that will hold the stick up like a tree. Then you can hang your jewelery from the branches, it is decorative and space saving.
