How to store earrings?

I have A LOT of earrings and they're all dumped into a tin box. Does anyone know of a creative way to organize them all (no big boxes please, i'm limited on space)? My cousin has a corkboard on her wall and she hung all her jewelry on tacks, and I know Claire's has those metal earring holders, but again, i have A LOT of earrings and I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions. 1. go to somewhere like claires where I know they have earing holders. I know you said you went there, but they have ones that can hold like 50 pairs of earings.

Take an get one of those things that are used for 7 days of the week to put your pills in, there have dividers, they are small enough to fit any ware and color code the containers so you know what earrings you have in watch, this one is for good earrings this one has long one, and if you have large hoops, then put those in small baggies. They also will fit anywhere.
4. Well my wife shops at Claire's alot and finds that they are literaly no use. Try organizing them in shapes and colors. Or if your really counting on storage try finding one of those jewelry cases that are very cheep and dont take up much space
5. i think what u can do is find some very thin cardboard and decorate it w/ some thin fabric & make little tiny holes as small as the stick from the earring and attach all of them (like when u buy them @ the store) & then u can cut it 2 fit inside ur tin box

What you could do is cut a piece of fabric (or a few pieces) & put all your pairs of earrings on it (the post through the fabric & the earring back, on the back of the post... like you put earrings in your ear..).. organize the pairs however you want.. color,etc..then fold the fabric & put it back in your box. If you have alot of hoop earrings, put those around the edges of the fabric.
7. I know its not very attractive but, egg containers ( the cardboard kind that come when you purchase them) are a great and inexpensive way to store all kinds of small things. Your earrings can easily be organized by color or style and the containers are stackable (and can be hidden in drawers).
