Generally the real stuff will have 14k stamped on them. If in doubt, check with a jeweler.
usually it would have just 14k stamped on it and the color would tell you if it was white or yellow gold... i never heard of kGL
It is real gold, just not pure gold. Pure gold is 24-carats, but pure gold is easily bent or broken. So often a harder metal, typically silver and copper, is added to increase its strength thus making it a more practical alloy to use when making jewelry. So called white gold is an alloy with silver and platinum added to make it even stronger.
