Jewellery Stand

is it legal for me to set up a stand on a side walk?

I made some crafts like earings and other jewelry to make some money. Is it legal for me to set up a stand on the sidewalk by the park or something? If not, what can i do?

  1. I don't know for sure, but make sure you are not ON the sidewalk. That's illegal because you create a safety hazard by causing pedestrians to possibly get hit by cars. So at least be near but not on the sidewalk. I don't know about the legality of the entire issue though.
  2. I'm not 100% sure but I think to have a stand on the streets you'll need a permit, but i'm not sure where you need to go to get one. Maybe you can call or write to your local MP and ask about this? However, I know that your not allowed to sell things actually ON the sidewalk because a sidewalk is legally, for pedestrians, not stands. If all this fails and you still can't find anywhere to sell your crafts, then is there a local market place where you can set up your stand? I know that here in NZ, a market is held every Sunday in a specific location and people can pay to set up their stand. There may be something like that near you but i'm not sure,
  3. Depends on where you are, but probably not. At a minimum you'd most likely need a license from your city. I assume you meanyou'd be next to the sidewalk, not actually on it which would not be allowed.
  4. depending where you are some citys have a pedlers lic required all that is give you a lic to sell stuff in that city they do it just to have a yard sale to. the city wants to make money off you too
  5. Its not legal, unless, you have a city permit.
