What does the jewelry stamp SG stand for?

I have a pair of enamel or inlaid earrings I found at an estate sale that has this on the back Thanks for the answers so far- I kind of figured it is the designer's initials, I guess I should have said do you know who it stands for? I don't think it stands for solid gold, because gold usually is stamped by 10K, 14K or 24K
