Jewellery Stand

Wicca, satanist, Witches,etc..., what does the star in the circle mean and stand for?

I notice a lot of you guys wear it, on shirts, necklaces, and other stuff. Although it does look cool, but what does it stand for?

  1. Pentacle - Earth, Air, Fire, Water, united by Spirit. It is an expression of the religious belief that all the spiritual (not scientific) elements of our world are bound by and sustained by the Spirit and that the way to seek Divine connection is through exploration of the various spiritual elements. Can't speak for Satanists, though. Satanist's pentacles are different from Wiccans and Witches.
  2. Five elements of water, earth, air, fire and spirit. Some people who wear this symbol just do it for a 'coolness' factor and actually have nothing to do with any sort of path or spiritual awareness. Ie: goths, emos etc.
  3. if you mean the pentagram, I don't wear that. That's a Wicca thing. it symbolizes among other things, the 5 elements. Also, it's symbolic of sacred femininity. We Satanists wear the Baphomet, which is the pentagram upside down in reference to the Goat of Mendes. Upside down, it also symbolizes the 5 elements, but in the sacred masculine.
  4. it depends. it has a lot of different meanings. one is that it symbolizes the body. (the top point is the head the others are the arms and legs.) this upright symbol is also a protector from certain magics. inverted it is a protector from other magics. also while inverted it can be the symbol of Baphomet, since it is shaped like a goats head.
  5. Symbolism of the four elements (earth, air, fire, water) and spirit. The circle can be representative of the cycles the universe goes through as well as ourselves (the four seasons constantly cycling, the journey of our lives: birth, life, death, rebirth, etc).
  6. Oh the pentagram.... it has soooo many definitions and interpretations and meanings! Pentagram: a five pointed star. Pentacle: a five pointed star within a circle. A pentagram for me denotes the 5 elements (Air, Water, Earth, Fire plus Spirit), the divine/spiritual meaning of things or is a symbol of Aphrodite. A pentacle for me denotes the world (circle plus the 5 elements), the Craft (the Art of Magic), Magic.
  7. The Four Elements and the divine or Will. The five obligations. The five types of gods. The five points of Wiccan belief. The five sacred goals. Take your pick.
  8. It represents the five elements and it is pointing down to bring energy to the Earth instead of it going to the cosmos. It also represents our Baphomet.
  9. The pentacle has been used throughout the ages for different reasons. It is an ancient symbol. Even early Christians used it to symbolize the 5 wounds of Christ. Satanists inverted it just like they inverted the cross to mock Christianity. Most Witches and Wiccans today use it today as a symbol of protection, or to represent the 5 elements (spirit, earth, air, fire & water), and the circle around it is the universe that connects them all. There is no evidence that in the distant past all Witches used it... it would have depended on their culture/region.
