Is it wrong for a Christian to wear a Star of David necklace?

I just bought a Star of David necklace and everyone is saying that I'm making fun of religion by wearing it because it is the symbol of the Jews. The thing is that it stands for the 12 tribes of Israel. Is it okay for me to wear the necklace or is it wrong?

  1. As long as you live in a free country, you can wear what you want. Of course others are free to tell you that they don't like it, too. I don't see how you're making fun of it by just wearing it around your neck. It's not like you're defaming it.
  2. No. (and I'm an atheist)
  3. I personally don't think so.
  4. Last I checked you have freedom of speech. What you wear and how you wear it is covered in that too.
  5. No. You can tell them to go to hell. A hexagram is just a shape, nothing more. If other people want to use it to symbolize something, that's fine, but it doesn't mean I wont use it whenever I want, for whatever I want. The same is true about pentagrams, crosses, and swastikas. Btw, I just have to say, if that's you, you are very pretty.
  6. Nope nothing wrong with it at all unless you live in a Muslim run country then it might get cut off !!!
  7. I won't go so far as saying that it's "wrong," but it's certainly misleading.
  8. Well, ultimately it depends on what you think. It's rather ironic that you're wearing a necklace of Jewish symbolism, but it's your choice! I wouldn't mind terribly--it could be a sign of the culture. What matters is your perspective on it.
  9. Where in Al-Torah (Judaism holy book) does it say that David's star is Judaism's Symbol ? Where in The Bible does it say that the Christ's Cross is Christianity Symbol ? Where in Al-Qur'an does it say that the Crescent is Islam's Symbol ?
  10. I don't believe it is wrong. After all, we worship the same God. The only difference is that they do not believe that the Messiah has come yet and they are still waiting for a Savior. We still stand on the Old Testament, why would it be offensive?
  11. no, nothing wrong with it. i'd say it's disrespectful to wear it for vain reasons, or just because it's pretty, but if it has spiritual meaning to you, go ahead and wear it.
  12. If any of them are Jewish I would say it's wrong Don't be an offense if you can avoid it.
  13. Not at all. I was raised Baptist (not that that really means anything lol) and I wear a rosary all the time. I know that's not the true purpose for it, but the thing looks cool and I treat it as you would treat wearing a gold cross charm on a necklace. So...no. Have at it. :)
  14. Maylin, Wearing the Star of David to me would hopefully mean that you believe in God, the God of Gentiles as well as Jews. It does stand for the 12 Tribes of Israel, there is nothing wrong, as long as it is done with respect and not sacrilegious. So no, it is not wrong to wear the necklace. Some may think you are Jewish, but that is up to you if you need to explain why you wear it and don't mind being asked. Bless you.
  15. I've heard others refer to it as the star of Molech ( a mean "god") from the old testament. Utube has some videos on it
  16. Kind of ironic. Isn't it?
  17. no, I don't think it's wrong. by just wearing it, you aren't making fun of anyone, you have a right to wear what you want.
  18. Wrong? No. Religion and morality are not contingent on one another. Call it a merkahba.
  19. No, I have a star on my arm. Tattoo. I see nothing wrong with it. Blessings
  20. No. It's not wrong. We are Jews silly. We have been grafted in through Jesus finished work on the cross. Basically we are adopted by GOD.
  21. don't player hate, celebrate.
  22. Honey, you can wear what you want. Especially, since the Star of David is in no way a likeness of god...it is not a sin.
  23. wear it. For one, if you notice- the magen David is also the symbol of the Isreali flag. So my q is this? are all Isreali's Jewish? no. So, if an Isreali wants to wear a magen David, but happens to be a Christian or Muslim Isreali, are they wrong? no.
  24. No. Not for a Christian.. who has Jesus as their Savior.. who is the Son of David. There are emblems that include the cross, the star, and the fish. Such were first discovered in those areas of early Christians.
  25. The question you should be asking is "do you know what the star of david symbolizes"? It is one of the most hideous occult symbols out there (Hexagram). Show me in the bible where we are told that there is a star of David - it is not there. It is not Jewish, it is not Christian, it is Pagan to the bitter core. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_star So the answer is "No, you should not be wearing a "star of David" necklace, for it is a satanic symbol.
  26. It is a symbol of the twelve tribes of Israel? If you want to wear it you can. It is a privilege. What is a symbol of the Jews? David wore the star. It is a beautiful symbol. It may resemble the star when Jesus was born. I was looking at one myself at one time.Jewish people are religious but Jesus makes it clear they do not have the corner on the grace and love of God only. Gentiles do also. Everyone saved and unsaved wears the cross. If that was so it would be religious hypocrisy. Enjoy!
  27. You can wear what you want. Don't forget, Jesus was a Jew. How about those that wear crosses as jewelry? And they don't give a horse's patoot about Christianity. And those BLING crosses....4 inches wide and 8 inches long! And wearing it while the guy is snorting coke or smoking a crack pipe!
  28. The six point star was the flower referred to in the Tabernacle menorah. If the star is flat, it is Not a merkaba, as a merkaba is 3 dimensional. It is not wrong to wear the magen David, but why would you wish to do so. Many people will identify you with the Jewish people. If it has a special meaning for you and you want to explain why you do. Then by all means wear it in the best of health.
  29. under the new covenant that Jesus ushered in at his death hebrew 10:16,18 all thing are permissable but not all things are profitable. jesus gave his life 2000 years ago for you so he could give his life to you (salvation) so he could live his life in you today, Jesus said if you will abide in me he would produce the fruit of the spirit in and through you, love joy peace kindness meekness self controle.how do we abide? just like the water faucet be available for him to us you and stay in his word the new testament this is where we live today.
  30. answer: No offense but why do you want to? It does not represent the 12 tribes of Israel. It has become a Jewish symbol over the years to the point where when someone is seen wearing one, they are assumed to be Jewish. Unless its one of those insulting Stars of Davids with a fish or a cross included. You aren't Jewish. What happens when someone asks you a question about Judaism? Or about Israel? Or you are seen eating a ham sandwich or doing something unethical - people will assume a Jew is doing that.
  31. I never really saw Christians wearing a Star of David pendent as that offensive. It is not making fun of a religion to me. Typically, I find that the sentiments for people's doing so is to express solidarity with the Jewish people, which is something I could hardly object to! The only thing that may be a bit strange about it is that you will inevitably be mistaken for a Jew when you do so. That's not really a problem, it's just that people will think of you as Jewish. I have no problem with you wearing the SOD pendant--but if you want to wear something that indicates solidarity with the Jewish people, with a little bit less of being identified as Jewish, the 'chai' symbol is very beautiful as well (looks like this (1)). Either way, the choice of doing so is entirely your own. Peace
  32. It's wrong :) When people see you eating a bacon roll, and wearing the Jewish emblem, do you think that is fair to those of us who *are* Jewish...? When you speak of Jesus, while wearing the Jewish emblem, do you think that is fair to those of us who *are* Jewish...? Is it wrong for a **Muslim** to wear a Crucifix...? Please, have enough respect for Jews NOT to present yourself AS one, when you are not :) ----------------------------------------- edit: To those Christians insisting it is 'fine': So... if I as a total non believer in Jesus as 'messiah' etc, went around wearing a Christian cross, and then when religion came up, explained all the reasons why Jesus was NOT the messiah - that would be 'fine', would it....? To the asker: If you'd like to show solidarity with Israel and Jews, then the CHAI pendant is a really lovely way to do this - and far less misleading. Quite apart from anything else, given that worldwide there are more physical assaults on Jews at present, you are sadly placing yourself at risk BY wearing the Magen David. Again, *as* a Jew, I would respectfully ask that you don't wear a Magen David and thus don't present yourself as being Jewish when you are not :)
  33. If someone wears a cross people assume they are Christian. If someone wears a star of david, people assume they are Jewish. Hypothetically you can wear whatever you want, but be prepared to answer questions when people ask. They might scratch their heads when you say you aren't Jewish and wonder why you are wearing it.
  34. There is nothing wrong with wearing it. I know a few christians who wear the Star of David necklace. My mother has a Star of David necklace and she is a christians.
